The national general secretary of the CPI (ML), Dipankar Bhattacharya has opined that the efforts to divide the society are at their peak in the country and the religious festivals are being converted into events of violence and hatred. He said that the Hindu nationalism would divide the country. Bhattacharya was delivering the keynote address in a seminar on the challenges before democracy in present times, organised by the State unit of CPI (ML) in Nainital on Monday.
He said that the powers of the judiciary, legislature, executive are different in the constitution. “On the basis of self-election, the Modi government wants to run the other two pillars according to its own accord. That is why the Law minister is constantly attacking the judiciary. In reality all the three pillars are accountable to the constitution and the people. By abolishing this accountability, the Modi government is moving towards turning the country into an electoral dictatorship,’’ he said.
