The Government of India has transferred 45.33 acre land of the HMT Limited to the State government. The minister of Heavy Industries has also issued an order to this effect. According to the order, the 45.33 acre land of HMT in Ranibagh and Haldwani has been transferred to the Uttarakhand government at a reserve price of Rs 72.02 crore.
Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Heavy Industries minister Mahendra Nath Pandey for the transfer of HMT’s land to the State government. The CM said that this is another major achievement of the double engine government. This matter was pending for quite some time and the decision of the Union government has fulfilled an important demand of Uttarakhand, he said. The land transferred from HMT to the State government will be put to use in the interests of the State and development, added the chief minister.
It is pertinent to mention here that in the past Dhami had requested PM Modi for transferring the HMT land to the State government. Raising this issue during a meeting with the Union Heavy Industries minister during August, he had requested that the land be transferred to the Uttarakhand government.
