The University of Patanjali chancellor Swami Ramdev and vice chancellor Acharya Balkrishna headed Holi celebrations at the university here on Thursday. The Holikaotsav was marked by a hawan and celebrated with flowers.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramdev said that in addition to being a festival of colours, Holi also symbolises social harmony, brotherhood and of victory of good over bad. “We should deide on Holi to follow the path of truth and Sanatan as taught in the Vedas and by our Rishis. We celebrate every festival of Sanatan culture with Yoga and Yagya as these are the life forces and soul of Sanatan culture. We should not mar this occasion with alcohol which is bad for society,” he said.
Balkrishna said that Holi is a celebration of the surrender of pride. All should forget differences and celebrate this festival with colours and joy. “We should celebrate the festival in a clean manner, abstaining from cowdung, mud and chemicals, and use flowers and herbal colours instead. Skin and eye ailments can be caused by the use of chemical colours. One should apply mustard or coconut oil, or cold cream on the skin before playing Holi to decrease the risk of chemicals harming the skin,”he said.
