Home isolation- village committees to monitor patients

In view of the complaints of unmonitored home isolation of the Covid-19 patients and the opinion of the experts that it is one of the reasons for high death rate from the disease the Uttarakhand government has decided to set up village Panchayat level Covid control committees.
In a letter to all the district magistrates the chief secretary Om Prakash has said that as per the recommendations of committee regarding technical inputs and decision support it has been decided to strengthen the monitoring system of the symptomatic people in home isolation. He said that the village Panchayat level Covid control committee would be headed by the Village Pradhans and Panchayat representative, Van Panchayayt Sarpanch, Anganwadi worker, Gram Prahri, volunteers of NSS and NYK and others would be its members.
The committee would provide information to the nodal officer concerned about arrival of returnees and their quarantine. The people with symptoms of Covid would be isolated by the committee with the help of block development officers and employees of the health and women and child development department. The committee would also get the RT -PCR tests done of the symptomatic patients and the provide medicine kits to the patients in home isolation. The committee would also promote Covid appropriate behaviour in the villagers.
