Hospitality Skill Development Centre comes up at KU

The Hospitality Skill Development Centre was inaugurated at Kumaun University, Nainital. The university sources said that it would provide employment-oriented skills training in the hospitality and tourism sector to the youth of the State. The centre has been set up under SETU Aayog initiated multi-stakeholder collaboration model with Tata Strive as the training and implementation partner, Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), Taj Hotels as the industry partner, Kumaun University as the academic partner and the Uttarakhand Skill Development Mission and the Higher Education Department as the State partners.
Following the centre’s inauguration, three key short-term courses were launched. These courses combine theoretical knowledge with practical training and all trainees will be provided placement assistance with prestigious hotel chains, tourism institutions and the service sector.
The vice- chairman of SETU Aayog, Raj Shekhar Joshi said that aligned with the goal of Vision Skilled Uttarakhand, this initiative would accelerate regional economic development by strengthening the collaboration between education and industry in the State. The vice- chancellor of Kumaun University, Prof Diwan Singh Rawat said that this initiative is tune with the university’s vision towards employment-oriented higher education.
