Hot conditions continue, rain & thunderstorms expected to bring relief in some areas today

The maximum temperatures in Dehradun and other places dropped by a few notches while still remaining above normal on Tuesday. Even as the people suffer from the impact of the heat, light rain and thunderstorms may bring some relief in parts of the State today. The State meteorological centre has forecast that very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Champawat and Nainital districts and at isolated places in Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Pauri, Udham Singh Nagar and Chamoli districts of Uttarakhand. The meteorological centre has also issued yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous districts and gusty wind (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of the State on Wednesday.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly cloudy sky with thunder cloud development also likely to occur. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 35 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Tuesday were 36.9 degrees Celsius and 21.1 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 35.5 degrees Celsius and 20.5 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 27 degrees Celsius and 13.6 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 26.4 degrees Celsius and 12.4 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
