Hotel association opposes bar on tourist vehicles

Thursday, 05 May | PNS | Nainital

The hotel association in Nainital has strongly objected to tourist vehicles being stopped at Kaladhungi and alleged misbehaviour with the tourists. The association head Dinesh Chandra Sah said that in a meeting held with the senior superintendent of police in the past, it had been decided all tourist vehicles would be allowed to come upto Rusi bypass. Only those tourists would be allowed to move further in their vehicle who had booking/parking facility. The other visitors would be ferried to Nainital by shuttle service. However, he said that despite the city not being crowded on Wednesday, the vehicles of tourists were stopped at Kaladhungi and Ranibagh which is not right. Sah said that the tourism business has been suffering considerably for the past two years due to the effect of the Covid pandemic. The attitude of the police and administration is apathetic towards tourism, he alleged. The hotel association decided unanimously on Wednesday that the hotels will display black flags and keep their lights shut in protest if the attitude of the authorities remains the same in the future. If needed, a protest rally will also be taken out. Sah said that the hotel association had always cooperated fully with the police and administration to conduct tourism in a secure manner.
