Considering the convenience of tourists during the New Year celebrations, the State government has authorised hotels, restaurants and Dhabas to operate 24 hours a day. According to officials, recent rain and snowfall in Uttarakhand have increased people’s enthusiasm for welcoming the New Year among people from outside the State. With a steady influx of tourists into the region, the Uttarakhand government is actively preparing for the celebrations.

According to an order issued by deputy secretary of the Labour department Shiv Vibhuti Ranjan hotels, restaurants and Dhabas will remain open around the clock to accommodate tourists. Additionally, workers have been permitted to work in both day and night shifts under certain conditions.

Commenting further about this, the officials informed that special discounts are being arranged for tourists to enjoy festivities that extend late into the night on December 31. A substantial crowd of tourists is expected to gather at popular destinations in Uttarakhand for both December 31 and New Year celebrations.

In response, hotels and restaurants have made special arrangements to welcome these visitors. Those involved in tourism—such as hotel owners, guides, travel agencies, cab drivers and handicraft sellers—are hopeful that the increase in tourist numbers over the New Year period will significantly boost their income. Recognising the enthusiasm of tourists and the expectations of local businesses, the state government is also capitalising on this occasion, they said.

The officials further said that to enhance the experience for tourists, arrangements are being made in various cities to alleviate traffic congestion. Additionally, the State government has been implementing several security measures to ensure that tourists can celebrate the New Year without any hindrance. Officials informed that efforts are underway to allow tourists to celebrate late into the night on December 31 and January 1.
