House tax to be re-imposed on some wards

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the Haldwani mayor Jogendra Pal Singh Rautela said after chairing a meeting of the executive committee of the municipal corporation that the house tax holiday enforced for five years for some wards in the Damuadungha area is to end now and the house owners of the ward numbers 35, 36 and 37 will have to pay the house taxes. He further informed that self assessment forms would be distributed among the house owners and they must deposit the taxes to be fixed on the basis of self-assessment. This aside, the municipal corporation has decided to hand over the land to be had after demolishing the municipal commissioner’s residence near the petrol pump of the civic body to Indian Oil on a 30-year lease for opening a CNG pump. Further, the mayor announced that the sum of Rs 60 lakhs collected by the civic body from the fines imposed on the plastic/polythene use would be used in road-repairing works.
