Acting on the instructions of the vice-chairman, Haridwar-Roorkee Development Authority, Sonika, HRDA’s team launched a drive against illegal constructions, sealing and demolishing structures at several locations under its jurisdiction. Those privy to the details of the drive said that the team had sealed an illegal commercial construction being developed by a builder on the ground, first, second, and third floors of a building, covering an area of approximately 45×45 feet in Purushottam Vihar, Kankhal, Haridwar. Additionally, an illegal commercial construction being carried out on the ground and first floors, covering an area of approximately 130×50 feet in front of a housing complex near Hare Ram Ashram in Kankhal was also sealed.
This aside, the team removed unauthorised plotting on about five to six bighas of land near Nagar Panchayat in Rampur, Roorkee with JCB in the presence of police.
The HRDA officers said that they would pull down constructions and plotting if they are found being developed without map approved by the authority. “Such drives will continue in full swing till all such constructions and plotting within the authority’s jurisdiction are removed,” said a senior officer.
