Hunar Haats benefited more than 6 lakh artisans- Naqvi

The Union minister for minority affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and the chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Hunar Haat event here on Friday. More than 500 artisans from 30 states are participating in this Haat.

Speaking on the occasion Naqvi said that Hunar Haats are being organised in different parts of the country and the 30th is being held in Dehradun. He said that these events have generated employment opportunities for six lakh artisans. In the ten day Haat one can see and purchase the handicrafts and other art forms of different parts of the country. The Union minister said that the artisans are converting waste to best and promoting self employment.

The Uttarakhand CM welcomed the artisans of different states while stating that the organisation of the Haat is a step in the direction of realisation of Atmanirbhar Bharat  vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the fair would provide market to the products and would promote the idea of vocal for local.  The CM said that special efforts are being made in Uttarakhand to promote local products and the policy of one district two products is being followed in the state. He said that there are many skilled people in the tribal areas of the state and requested the union minister that a scheme to provide market to the artefacts made them should be launched. Dhami said that the state government is making effort to promote industries in the state and special emphasis is being made on simplification, solution and fast clearance. He said that Uttarakhand is an important state in the terms of tourism. Dhami said that the road, rail and air connectivity has increased in the state with the help of central government.

Speaking on the occasion former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat said that organisation of such fairs would promote handicrafts and artisans and help in exchange of ideas and experiences. Former CM Tirath Singh Rawat termed the fair a good effort in the direction of vocal for local concept. He said that the government departments are operating many schemes to encourage people for self employment.

The Union minister and the CM inspected the Vishwakarma Vatika and different stalls in the fair. The duo also felicitated the freedom fighters and their relatives on the occasion.

The Tehri MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, Mayor of Dehradun Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’, MLAs Harbans Kapoor, Shakti Lal Shah, general secretary organisation of BJP Ajeya Kumar and others were present on the occasion.
