The Asian School celebrated Independence Day which commenced with the principal Ruchi Pradhan Datta having hoisted the national flag. Various inter-house and inter-class competitions were held to mark the day. The principal enlightened the students on the lives of the freedom fighters as well as on the unsung heroes who played a monumental role in freeing the country from the yoke of alien rule. She also exhorted the students to assimilate the timeless values that India as a nation embodies. Extolling the role of the army in protecting the unity and integrity of the nation, she said that the national flag flies high not by the blowing wind but by the breath of each soldier who is making supreme sacrifices on the altar of the country’s territorial unity.
