IAS officer urges people to vote through election song

The Kumaon commissioner Deepak Rawat has recorded a song in the Kumaoni language urging people to vote in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. The video of the song was uploaded on Wednesday morning which has garnered  appreciation from many on social media. The duration of the song is 2.5 minutes and in the background, scenes of programmes organised in various districts of Kumaon division to raise awareness about voting during elections are playing. The song starts with the lyrics ‘Hit o aama bubu vote kari ulaan… Sun o dada bhauji hum vote dibai ulaan, bhalo neta chunaula…’ which urges all elders, men, women and youth to cast their votes to choose a good leader. Apart from this, the commissioner is also motivating first time voters to be good citizens by exercising their right to vote. People have been sharing the song on various social media platforms. Rawat had also released a rap song in the Assembly elections 2017 to raise awareness among people regarding voting when he was district magistrate of Nainital. The commissioner stated that the video is aimed at boosting the voting percentage across the State, especially in the Kumaon division during the Lok Sabha elections.
