IG Khurana passes away after prolonged illness

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, director general of police Deepam Seth and various officers paid tributes to inspector general of police Kewal Khurana who breathed his last late on Sunday night. An IPS officer of the 2005 batch of Uttarakhand cadre, Khurana passed away at a private hospital in Delhi. He succumbed to prolonged illness. His last rites were held at Haridwar on Monday.
CM condoled his demise and also met the bereaved family members in Dehradun. Born in 1978 in Uttar Pradesh, Khurana had worked in various positions including the senior superintendent of police in Dehradun and Udham Singh Nagar, later also working as the director of traffic and most recently headed the Home Guard.
Considered a capable and promising police officer in the State, he had executed various effective measures during his tenure in various capacities including taking stern measures for resolving traffic issues in Dehradun and enabling the education of children from deprived sections of society in Udham Singh Nagar district. His efforts are still appreciated among the general public.
