IIT Roorkee hosts 24th convocation
2,513 students receive degrees

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee organised its 24th convocation on Saturday during which a total of 2513 degrees was conferred on the students-1931 male and 582 female- in various disciplines. Senior officers of the institute said that a significant highlight of this year’s convocation is the remarkable increase in the proportion of graduating female students, soaring from 18.84 per cent in 2022 to 23.16 per cent in 2024, reflecting its commitment to gender diversity and inclusion. B Tech graduate in Computer Science and Engineering Achintya Nath earned the President’s Gold Medal for achieving the highest CGPA among UG students admitted through JEE Advanced while another B Tech graduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering received the Director’s Gold Medal.
The chairperson of the board of governors BVR Mohan Reddy who chaired the convocation dwelt on the stellar achievements of the institute in recent years while thepresident of NASSCOMDebjani Ghoshwhowas the chief guest said that the innovations the student create shape not just the future of technology but the future of humanity.
The director of IIT Roorkee Prof K K Pant highlighted the institute’s exceptional year, including securing 148 patents and advancing its QS World Rankings from 369th to 335th.
