IIT team inspects railway station for redevelopment project
To enable progress in execution of the Dehradun railway station- a joint project of Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) and Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA), a team of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee arrived here on Sunday. The IIT civil engineer department’s professor Satyendra Mittal and his team along with senior officials of the MDDA inspected the site for proposed construction under the project and identified sites for soil testing.
According to the officials, based on the report of the soil testing received from IIT Roorkee, the project site would be declared a high rise building zone in the master plan. The team from IIT Roorkee will soon start field testing, shear velocity and other works at the identified spots in order to submit its report to the authority. It is pertinent to mention here that execution of the Dehradun railway station redevelopment project is aimed at resolving the traffic congestion problem around the railway station and will also entail face lifting and beautification of the area along with provision of new facilities.
The MDDA vice chairman Ranvir Singh Chauhan and other officials were also present during the inspection.
