In latest news from Doon, an unauthorised mazar built on government land near Doon Hospital was razed down by bulldozer at the initiative of the district administration. Notably, the district magistrate had ordered a thorough probe into the status of the mazar following a complaint lodged by a Rishikesh resident on the CM Helpline portal. As part of the probe, several departments like Revenue and PWD in addition to Doon Municipal Corporation and Doon Hospital administration had been asked to submit report on the status of the land which housed the religious structure. Besides, the documents related to the land had been scrutinised. The reports, submitted, revealed that it had been built sans clearance on an encroached land that belongs to the government.
The demolition drive followed the investigation and the administration issued a notice to the caretaker of the mazar.
