IMD issues ‘Biparjoy’ warning for Uttarakhand for June 18 and 19

In breaking Uttarakhand news, with the super cyclonic storm Biparjoy having triggered torrential rain in some parts of Rajasthan after wreaking havoc in Gujarat, the India Meteorological Department has warned that the mountainous State Uttarakhand might also suffer the impact of this storm on June 18 and 19. As per the forecast, the Kumaon region may bear maximum brunt of the storm as heavy rain accompanied by squall might lash several districts of this region. Taking note of this, IMD has issued yellow alert for June 18. Plus, gusty winds with the speed of 50 kmph may hit several districts of the Garhwal region of the State like Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Uttarkashi and for this, IMD has issued yellow alert, too. The forecast further warns that hail accompanied by torrential rain and winds with the speed going up to 80 km per hour may lash all the districts of the State on June 18. The same weather condition may prevail in the State on June 19 too, the weather department said.
It is learnt that the State government has geared up to meet any potential disaster emergency with the Char Dham Yatra going on now in full swing.
