Immovable properties of key recruitment scam accused to be confiscated

In latest news from Dehradun, with the administration tightening its noose around the officers allegedly involved in recruitment scam related to Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC), the Haridwar district magistrate Dhiraj Singh Garbyal ordered the confiscation of properties of the key accused. They allegedly possess properties worth Rs 34 lakhs in Haridwar and Laksar. The tehsildar of Haridwar and Laksar has been appointed as the executor of the immovable properties of the accused. In course of the police investigation into this sensational recruitment scam, the name of the section officer of the UKPSC came to the fore as the mastermind of this scam. The allegation runs that he took large sums of money from a number of examinees for leaking the papers. Later, police registered cases against the accused under the Gangster Act at the Kankhal police station. Police probe further revealed that Chaturvedi had purchased lands in Kankhal and Laksar through the money he acquired through recruitment exam paper leakage. Another member of the gang also allegedly purchased land with the ill-gotten money. It is learnt that the SSP Haridwar Pramendra Doval wrote to the DM, asking for his order to impound the immovable properties of the key accused. Now, the stage is set for impounding these lands following the DM’s go- ahead.
