The chairperson of Uttarakhand State Commission for Women (USCW), Kusum Kandwal said that the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be instrumental in ensuring the safety and rights of women in the State. She expressed her gratitude to chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for successful passing of the UCC bill during the State Assembly session.
Kandwal emphasised that the UCC will serve as a significant aid to women in all aspects by eliminating detrimental and conservative practices. It will set a remarkable precedent for women’s safety, welfare and empowerment in the State. In addition to granting equal rights to all citizens, this law will not only provide justice for women but also empower them.
