Terming the situation of the pandemic of Covid-19 in Uttarakhand as grave, the Uttarakhand Congress has demanded that a health emergency should be imposed in the state. The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh said on Thursday that the Tirath Singh Rawat government has failed miserably in controlling the pandemic and providing treatment to infected patients. He said that the gravity of the situation can be understood from the fact that the death rate has surpassed the national average and the recovery rate has witnessed a slide of more than 23 percent. “We had requested the state government to increase the pace of testing but what happened is an increase in infection and deaths. Patients are gasping for breath as oxygen is not available and the life saving Remdesivir is being black marketed,’’ he said.
The PCC president also questioned the rationale behind handing over the task of managing the Covid care centres to the village Pradhans.
