The Vice President of Uttarakhand Congress, Surya Kant Dhasmana said that the state government is left with no alternative than imposing a lockdown of some days to break the chain of the Covid-19 infection. He said that the state government should form a coordination committee of the health department, officials, army, Para military and opposition for strict enforcement of lockdown.
The Congress leader said that acute shortage of beds, oxygen and ICU in the hospital has exposed the claims of the state government. “The situation is very alarming and it appears that there is nothing called the government in Uttarakhand. The uncontrolled organisation of Kumbh in Haridwar by this government gave an invitation to Covid infection whose consequences are being faced not only by Uttarakhand but the entire North India,’’ he said.
