Inclement weather in store till February 4 in State

A combination of western disturbance, strong south-easterly winds and possible formation of an induced cyclonic circulation over West Rajasthan which is likely to move eastwards, is very likely to affect Uttarakhand till February 4. The meteorological centre has issued a weather warning for February 3 and 4 regarding the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rain / snowfall (at 2,500 metres and above) at a few places in districts of Kumaon region of Uttarakhand with intense to very intense showers at isolated places in Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts from the evening of February 3 to the evening of the next day. Thunderstorm accompanied with hail and lightning likely to occur at isolated places in Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts.

Further, a yellow alert has been issued for February 3 regarding the possibility of heavy rain/snowfall at isolated places in districts of Garhwal region. Thunderstorm accompanied with hail and lightning is likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri and Tehri districts on Thursday.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to experience generally cloudy skies with a few spells of rain/thundershowers also likely to occur. The maximum and minimum temperatures here are likely to be about 15 degrees Celsius and nine degrees Celsius respectively today.

On Wednesday, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at various places were 16.9 degrees Celsius and 7.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 15 degrees Celsius and 7.2 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 13.9 degrees Celsius and zero degree Celsius in Mukteshwar and 12 degrees Celsius and 2.6 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
