Inclement weather: UPCL put on alert for maintaining power supply

 The Managing Director (MD) of the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL), Anil Kumar has put the officers and employees of the corporation on high alert to ensure power supplies amid inclement weather conditions and snow fall in the State.

The UPCL has set up a control room in the office of the director (operations) at the headquarters to keep an eye on the availability of power supply. The MD has also directed all the chief engineers  to update him regularly on the status of power supply in their areas .

The corporation claimed that its regional units restored the power supplies disrupted at various places in the state due to bad weather on Friday night.

The MD said that the consumers of the State can contact the nearest power house or centralized call center (1912) for any kind of power related disruption in their area.  For the convenience of pilgrims/tourists visiting during winter, the MD has directed all regional units to ensure smooth power supply at important pilgrimage and tourist places such as Mussoorie, Auli, Lansdowne, Joshimath, Dhanaulti, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Chamoli, Chakrata, Rajaji National Park, Tehri, Devprayag, Chamba and Harsil. The UPCL officers have also been directed to ensure uninterrupted supply of power at the winter abodes of the Char Dhams.

 The MD said that all the substations, HT/LT lines and street lights are being monitored on a daily basis and arrangements of material like conductors, cables, poles, transformers are also being ensured at all the places so that in case of power disruption, supply can be restored in minimum time.

The MD has directed all the superintending engineers and executive engineers to inspect the 33/11 KV substations and 11 KV feeders under their jurisdiction. He said that lopping of trees coming in the way of the power lines should be done.
