The chief secretary S S Sandhu has said that consultants and experts should be included in the retrofitting works in the subsidence affected area of Joshimath. The CS was presiding over a meeting held at the State secretariat on Thursday to review the disaster mitigation works being undertaken in the Joshimath town.
The CS said directed the officers of the departments concerned to prepare DPRs for the slope stabilisation, drinking water, sewerage, drainage and other works. He said that the time frame of every work should be determined in advance. The CS said that the secretaries’ concern should hold weekly reviews to ensure that the works are completed on time. Singh added that he will also hold fortnightly reviews of the works in Joshimath.
The CS said that the works should be completed at a fast pace and the officers should ensure their quality. On the Auli ropeway, the CS said that ropeway connectivity is being increased in the State. He said that a ropeway cell should be set up in the state for the purpose.
The secretaries AS Hyanki, Ranjit Kumar Sinha and Pankaj Kumar Pandey attended the meeting. The district magistrate of Chamoli and other officers attended the meeting in virtual mode.
