The Bharatiya Janata Party has welcomed the decision of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to include the history of the statehood movement in the school curriculum. Terming it a historic step, the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt congratulated Dhami on behalf of the party organisation and the public, stating that it is very important that the younger generation knows about the struggle and sacrifices made for formation of Uttarakhand State which will also instill a feeling of gratefulness in them.
Appreciating the step, Bhatt said that announcing the inclusion of the history of the statehood movement in the school curriculum on the State’s foundation day is a gesture which respects public sentiments. He said, “It is very important that the younger generation is exposed to the authorised information about martyrdom of statehood activists, their sacrifices and their thoughts for which its inclusion in the school curriculum is the better step. It is our moral responsibility and also the right of the younger generation that these aspects are known. They should also learn about the pain left by the wounds inflicted by the Muzaffarnagar massacre, the firing incidents at Khatima, Mussoorie and Sriyantra Tapu so that a sense of gratefulness is also instilled,” said the BJP State president.
