Income tax raids conducted at multiple properties in Dehradun

The Income Tax department carried out raids at several locations in Dehradun city in Uttarakhand on Wednesday. A team from Delhi reportedly conducted the operations targeting properties linked to prominent builders and liquor traders. The department reportedly raided properties of businessmen like Kamal Arora, Inder Khatri, Rakesh Batta and Ramesh Batta and liquor businessman Pradeep Walia, as per the official sources. They informed that the department initiated the raids following reports of undeclared financial transactions involving substantial amounts of money. Teams conducted inspections at properties situated along MKP Road, Dwarka Store area and Rajpur Road early morning on Wednesday. The authorities examined records, financial statements and documents at the premises to verify compliance with income tax regulations. The officials said that the raids are part of ongoing measures to investigate unreported transactions and ensure that businesses adhere to tax laws. The department did not disclose the total value of the transactions under review, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation. Sources said that the teams have collected evidence from multiple offices and residential properties. The department may extend the investigation to other individuals and entities if further irregularities are found. Any person found involved in evading taxes could face legal action under relevant provisions of the Income Tax Act.
