Bhatt also requested that the States should be given the right to amend the norms of the compensation granted for landslide, floods and earthquakes. He said that he represents Uttarakhand, where it is a major challenge to rehabilitate people affected by natural disasters. Bhatt said that compensation amount given to the affected people is very less due to which they fail to get justified economic assistance. He said that the houses in the mountainous areas are constructed with stones and mud and have a unique architecture but they are not considered Pucca houses due to which they are deprived of adequate compensation.
