Increase hydro and solar power production: CM to officers

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the State should increase its hydro and solar power production. He directed the officers to work at a fast pace in the sectors of energy and alternative energy. The CM chaired a review meeting of the officers of the power corporations and state administration at the secretariat on Wednesday. He said that there is a need to bring the work to the ground level at a fast pace. Dhami added that all the ongoing projects should be completed within the stipulated time frame. He asked the officers to inform about the problems they are facing in the execution of the projects and said that the proposals for the union government should be made wherever needed.

 Dhami directed that the additional land of UJVNL should be used for solar power generation and tourism related activities. He said that the grounding of the projects signed during the recent Global Investors Summit should be done on priority. The CM also directed the officers to work expeditiously in the Lakhwad and Kishau multipurpose power projects. He said that focus on digital payment and increasing revenue of the department should be made. The CM directed that the emphasis on strengthening the transmission system of the PTCUL should be done.

 The CM was informed that the state at present has a capacity of 7,513 million units of hydro and solar power production and the target to increase it to 18,740 MU has been taken till the year 2031. The officers said that grounding of Rs 21,520 crore projects have been done which includes Rs 6,780 crore hydropower projects, Rs 14,670 crore pump storage projects and Rs 70 crore solar based power projects. They further informed that work on agreements worth Rs 54,977 crore done during the recent investors’ summit is underway in hydropower, pump storage and solar power sectors.

 The meeting was attended by deputy chairman of the infrastructure monitoring committee Vishwas Dabar, additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, MD UJVNL Sandip Singhal, MD UPCL Anil Kumar, MD PTCUL PC Dhyani and others.
