INDI Alliance leaders express concern on proposed Uttarkashi Mahapanchayat
PNS | DEHRADUN
The members of INDI Alliance have written a letter to the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressing deep concern over the proposed Mahapanchayat in Uttarkashi.
In the letter the INDI Alliance leaders have accused the government of hesitating to take action against the culprits of Uttarkashi riot of October 24. They claimed that it appears as if the government is trying to encourage the violent agitation. In the riot 27 people were injured and some policemen had to be taken to Dehradun for treatment.
The INDI Alliance leaders claimed that the names of some people involved in the riot are not included in the FIR. Some organisations have again given a call for Mahapanchayat in Uttarkashi and chances are high that hate speeches will be delivered in the programme. The INDI leaders also expressed concern on transfer of the officers from Uttarkashi and termed it as an action aimed to encourage the perpetrators of violence.
The INDI Alliance leaders said that similar incidents are also being reported from other places such as Kirtinagar where it is alleged that a worker of the ruling party was involved in kidnap of the minor girls so that communal tension can be spread. They said that the 101 retired bureaucrats have written an open letter to the Union home minister expressing concern over the Uttarkashi incident.
The letter is written by Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara, State secretary CPI (ML) Indresh Maikhuri, State secretary CPI (M) Rajendra Singh Negi, State secretary Samajwadi Party SN Sachan, national council member CPI Samar Bhandari and Uma Sisdodia of AAP.
