Team India stormed into the rain-delayed semi-final of the T-20 World Cup tournament by crushing the defending champion England by 68 runs in Guyana. Now, the stage is set for India and South Africa clash in the final slated in Barbados on June 29.   India was sent to bat first and put up a competitive score of 171 runs for the loss of seven wickets. In reply, England collapsed in 16.4 overs when its score was 103.

Rohit Sharma’s half century (57 in 29 balls) laid foundation. However, India’s another star batsman Virat Kohli disappointed as he got out at nine though he hit a spectacular six.   Surya Kumar Yadav (47 in 36 balls) helped India put a challenging score before England.  The dup added 73 runs in their partnership. Significantly, the team made 53 runs in the last five overs.

The England team started well and the openers-Jos Butter and Phil Salt- made 26 runs in just three overs. Then Akshar Patel was unleashed and he took a number of quick wickets which seemed to have battered the Britishers’ morale. The score of 26/ 0 turned to 49/5 in nine overs. Harry Brook tried to stabilise but Kuldeep Yadav sent him to the pavilion.   Brook made 25 runs in 19 games. Akshar and Kuldeep took three wickets each. Akshar was declared the player of the match for his magnificent bowling performance.
