In the ninth match of the ODI World Cup 2023 played at Arun Jaitley stadium in New Delhi, India beat Afghanistan emphatically by 8 wickets with 15 overs to spare. The highlight of this match is the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma blazing out 131 in just 84 balls. With Afghanistan having decided to bat, the total score stood at 272 for eight wickets with Hasmatullah Shahidi’s mature 80 and Azmatullah Omarazai’s blustering 62.  Jasprit Bumrah finished with his best ever figures in a World Cup match with four wickets in his kitty. However, the nuclear-powered ton of the Indian captain Rohit Sharma stole the show. Notably, he reached his 100 just in 63 balls.  This marks a record as the fastest 100 by an Indian batsman in the World Cup.  He appeared to be invincible and played all kinds of strokes across the ground. Importantly, this is also his record-making seventh World Cup 100.  Now, India is set to take on its arch rival Pakistan on October 14.
