India beats Australia by six wickets in the World Cup opener thanks to the partnership of K L Rahul and Virat Kohli. Rahul scored 97 runs and the partnership added 165 runs that helped the Indian team trash the Aussies by six wickets. Earlier, Australia won the toss and elected to bat. It presented to India a total of 200 runs to chase. But the Indian battling order collapsed fast. India lost three quick wickets when the score stood just at two. Then things were stabilised by the mature partnership between Rahul and Kohli. Taking on the Australian fast bowling attack maturely, Rahul took 115 balls to score his match-winning unbeaten 97 runs with eight boundaries and two sixers.
