India is now on the verge of reaching the semi-final stage of the ICC World Cup 2023 after the Team India trounced Bangladesh by seven wickets. This marks the four consecutive victories for India in this World Cup. In earlier matches, the Team India decimated Australia, Pakistan and Afghanistan. In the India-Bangladesh match, Bangladesh batted first and set a sporting total of 257 runs for India to chase. In reply, India made 261 runs in 42 overs by losing just three wickets. India’s stress-free victory is being rightly ascribed to Virat Kohli’s nuclear-powered ton. He ended up with an unbeaten 103 runs.  He hit a huge six to reach his hundred that brought about India’s spectacular win with 51 balls to spare. The skipper Rohit Sharma made 48 brisk runs while Shubman Gill added 55 runs to India’s score. The next crucial match for India is slated on October 22 against New Zealand.

As regards the points table of this World Cup, New Zealand still tops the table. Though both India and New Zealand have won all their four matches New Zealand is ahead of India in terms of net run rate. New Zealand has eight points in its kitty with net run rate standing at +1.923 whereas India has eight points too though its net run rate stands at +1.659. The berths of both these teams in the semi-final stage of the WC are nearly confirmed. In the coming days, India will play against England, Netherlands, Sri Lanka and South Africa aside from New Zealand. And New Zealand is to play matches with Australia and South Africa aside from the one with India. There is another interesting match kept in store in this WC and that is between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
