India to become world’s third largest economy by 2027: Rajnath Singh
Tuesday, 20 June 2023 | PNS | DEHARDUN
Union Defence minister Rajnath Singh said that India will become the world’s third largest economy by 2027. This scenario has been analysed by various foreign economists. He said that the nation is becoming self reliant in defence and other sectors. Important defence equipment like tanks, armament and other items are being exported to 25 nations. The value of defence exports has reached Rs 16,000 crore. Singh said this while speaking at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Prabuddh Sammelan held here on Monday.
Addressing the gathering, the Defence minister said that Uttarakhand is a small State but the vision of the Central government regarding its development is clear. Referring to ambitious schemes in the State, he mentioned the Rs 1,300 crore reconstruction works in Badrinath and Kedarnath, the Gaurikund-Kedarnath and Govindghat-Hemkund ropeway projects worth Rs 2,500 crore, the Manaskhand Mandir Mala mission in Kumaon region, encouraging homestays across the State, development of 16 eco tourism destinations and the expansion of health services in the State. Singh also referred to the planned establishment of AIIMS satellite centre in Udham Singh Nagar, Tehri lake development project worth Rs 2,000 crore, development of Rishikesh-Haridwar as the capital of adventure tourism and Yoga capital, Tanakpur-Bageshwar rail project and the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project. He said, “The global prestige of the nation has increased under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India’s view is being considered seriously in international fora. The respect being accorded to our Prime Minister is honour being accorded to all Indians.”
Singh said that it is due to PM Modi’s vision which resulted in opening of Jan Dhan accounts for citizens that the beneficiaries are receiving cent per cent of the financial assistance being provided by the government to them through digital transactions directly into their accounts. In the past, the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had expressed concern stating that if Rs 100 is released from New Delhi, only Rs 15 is received by the beneficiary. Corruption is eradicated by change in the system, not by lectures, said Singh.
“Today when the economy of powerful nations is stumbling and questions are being raised at their banks, India has accepted the challenge and worked to check inflation. During the Russia-Ukraine conflict, PM Modi talked to the heads of these nations along with the American President to ensure that 26,000 Indian students were evacuated safely from there on time,”Singh said.
Speaking on the occasion, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the main aim of the event on Monday is to communicate the government and party’s ideas to the public through the intelligentsia. He said that India is a strong and secure nation today. Unprecedented work has been done to boost the morale of armed forces, modernise the armed forces while making them self reliant. Dhami said, “There is considerable difference between the India before 2014 and after 2014. The nation is now moving forward on an unprecedented scale and pace because the new India thinks big and sets major targets for itself.” He also spoke about the various works being undertaken by the State government. BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt, MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah and others were also present on the occasion.
