Indian army commences white water rafting expedition from Rudraprayag

The Regiment of Artillery of the Indian Army in collaboration with the Army Adventure Wing, has begun a series of white water rafting expeditions that will cover all raftable rivers in the country. The expeditions started from Rudraprayag and are a part of the preparations for the bicentenary of the Regiment of Artillery, which will be celebrated on September 28, 2026. The team, led by lieutenant colonel BN Jha includes two officers, one commissioned officer and 21 other ranks. The journey began at Rudraprayag and concluded at the Veerbhadra barrage in Rishikesh.
The main objective of the expedition is to motivate the serving personnel, encourage them to embrace adventure and build camaraderie by pushing their limits.
Notably, the first expedition in the series successfully covered the challenging waters of rivers Mandakini, Alaknanda, Bhagirathi and Ganga. It unfolded across six phases along the Rishikesh-Devprayag-Srinagar-Rudraprayag axis, covering a distance of approximately 300 kilometres.
