Indian Army, U’khand govt to organise ‘Surya Devbhoomi Challenge’

The Indian Army, in collaboration with the government of Uttarakhand will organise a three day ‘Surya Devbhoomi Challenge,’ an ultra-endurance event for youngsters in the mountainous terrain of Uttarakhand. The event will commence on April 18.
A total of 150 Athletes, adventurers and endurance enthusiasts from across the country comprising 77 Army persons and 73 civilians including seven women athletes will take part in the event.
On day one, the participants will take part in a 110 km high altitude cycling segment, navigating steep inclines, unpredictable weather and challenging mountain paths designed to test cardiovascular endurance and mental fortitude.
On day two, the activity involves a 37 km intense trail run across rugged Himalayan trails, featuring river crossings and steep ascents, demanding strength, balance, and sharp instincts.
The day three features a 32 km trail run followed by an eight km road run, challenging participants’ perseverance as they tackle varied elevations and terrains.
“Set in Uttarakhand’s high altitude, rugged terrains, the ‘Surya Devbhoomi Challenge’ is crafted to push participants’ physical endurance, mental resilience, and emotional strength to their limits.Beyond its physical challenges, the event celebrates India’s rich cultural and natural heritage, honour, the valour and discipline of our armed forces,’’ said a communique from the Indian Army.
