In a significant move to enhance disaster response capabilities, the Indian Rescue Academy, part of the ITUS Group, has partnered with the Uttarakhand State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to initiate an advanced training of trainers (TOT) programme focused on medical first responder (MFR) skills. The first session took place at the SDRF Battalion Headquarters in Jollygrant on Monday with senior officials and rescue professionals from across the State. The SDRF commandant Arpan Yaduvanshi said this TOT programme is designed to upgrade the skills of SDRF personnel in medical response techniques and advanced instructional strategies, aiming to create a framework for enhanced disaster preparedness and resilience across the state. The participants will acquire essential life-saving skills and learn effective teaching methods through the course allowing them to train others in the SDRF and broader communities. The academy will provide specialised training in areas like flood rescue, technical rope rescue, Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) operations, lifesaving techniques and collapse structure search and rescue (CSSR). Speaking on the collaboration, IG SDRF Ms Ridhim Aggrawal said, “Our partnership with the Indian Rescue Academy ensures our personnel receive top-tier rescue training. The TOT Medical First Responder course will boost our medical response capabilities and create future trainers who will expand this program’s reach across the state.” Yaduvanshi also highlighted the importance of the training, stating, “This course will provide invaluable skill upgrades to our trained SDRF personnel, empowering them to manage complex situations and share this critical knowledge with others in the force and community.”
