Indo- Kazakh joint military exercise commences in Auli

 KAZIND-2024, the joint military exercise of India and Kazakhstan commenced at Auli in Chamoli district on Monday. The exercise will conclude on October 13. The exercise is an annual training event conducted alternatively in India and Kazakhstan. Last edition of the exercise was conducted in Kazakhstan in July 2023. Indian contingent in the exercise has 120 personnel represented primarily by 5th battalion of the Kumaon regiment and Indian Air Force. The Kazakh contingent comprises of 60 personnel drawn from the country’s land forces, air defence forces and air borne assault troopers.

The Commander Indian contingent, Colonel Yogesh Upadhyay said, “ The joint exercise is a testimony of the growing bond of friendship between the two glorious nations and with enthusiasm, professionalism and a spirit of cooperation we will achieve our training objectives and emerge from this exercise as even stronger, more capable and a more united force.’’

The Commander Kazakhstan contingent Colonel Karibayev Nurlan Serikbayevich said that India and Kazakhstan share common culture, heritage and harmonious relations and the eighth edition of joint exercise will further strengthen interoperability and coordination at tactical level and build the bonds of friendship and trust.

“The aim of Exercise KAZIND – 2024 is to enhance joint military capability of both sides to undertake counter terrorism operations in a sub conventional scenario under Chapter VII of the United Nations mandate. The joint exercise will focus on operations in the semi-urban and mountainous terrain. Objectives to be achieved from the joint training are high degree of physical fitness, rehearsing and refining drills for operations at tactical level and sharing of best practices. The joint exercise will facilitate developing inter-operability, bonhomie and camaraderie between armed forces personnel of the two countries. This will also enhance the level of defense cooperation, further assisting bilateral relations between the two friendly nations,’’ a communiqué from the Indian army said.
