In latest news from Dehradun, CBI arrested a noted industrialist Sudhir Windlass along with his three aides in connection with alleged land fraud and forgery. It is learnt that he was booked for selling land on upscale Rajpur Road to a businessperson through forged documents. While confirming the arrest of Windlass, CBI sources informed that four cases had been filed by its anti-corruption branch against 20 persons in connection with the alleged land forgery and added that the accused quartet were produced before the CBI Special Court. Notably, police had acted in January 2022 after a businessperson filed two cases related to forgery against Windlass and some of his close aides and employees at Rajpur police station, alleging that Windlass had sold land to him after forging land ownership documents where several dead persons were shown as alive. Later, an ex- Army man filed a case against Windlass, alleging that the industrialist had expropriated his land. In the initial stage, the district police was probing the case but as the accusers said they were not happy with the district police probe and demanded CBI inquiry, the government following detailed scrutiny of the case recommended CBI probe.
