The tableau of the Information department received the first prize during the Republic Day Parade held on January 26 in Dehradun. The director general of Information Banshidhar Tiwari informed that tableaux of various departments were showcased in the parade and the Information department’s tableau won the top honor. He said that the tableau of ‘Viksit Uttarakhand’ was prepared by the Information department under the guidance of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The front part of the tableau depicted a Uttarakhandi woman in traditional attire extending a warm welcome along with the cultivation of traditional grains such as Mandua, Jhangora, Ramdana and Kauni, as well as the State bird Monal. The middle part of the tableau showcased the concept of homestays, which has generated employment opportunities for thousands of villagers in the mountainous regions. Notably, Sarmoli village in Uttarakhand was awarded as the best tourist village in the year 2023 by the Government of India. The Lakhpati Didi Yojana which has been instrumental in empowering women in Uttarakhand, enabling them to achieve self-reliance was also showcased in the tableau. Local women involved in self-help groups and located in remote mountainous areas have been introduced to solar energy and mobile towers, which was also displayed in the tableau.  The last part of the tableau showcased various key infrastructure developments, such as the all-weather road, the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project, ropeway and road connectivity to India’s first village Mana. These initiatives have significantly transformed transportation facilities for the people in Uttarakhand, he stated. Tiwari further added that the tableau was accompanied by artists donning traditional costumes, who performed dances based on Uttarakhand’s rich folk culture.

It will be recalled that recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that the third decade of the 21st century will belong to Uttarakhand. In the region of Devbhumi Uttarakhand, which is a comparatively less developed area of India, various development projects amounting to several lakh crores, including the construction of an all-weather road, Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line, homestays, ropeways and others are being undertaken at a swift pace. Additionally, there is sufficient production of traditional grains, which was also showcased in the tableau.
