The Education department has initiated the initial phase of action for revoking the affiliation of Sun Valley School in view of the non-enrollment of students at their premises under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. Providing this information chief education officer Pradeep Rawat stated that in the year 2023, a list of 25 students was issued to the school for enrollment under the RTE Act. However, the school management had claimed exemption as a minority status institution and has refused to admit the selected students under the RTE Act, he said.
Rawat further added that the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) had convened a meeting in which the school officials failed to provide any documents regarding the school’s minority institution status. In response, the Education department had directed them to enroll the 25 students in the school under the RTE Act. The CEO emphasised that the school has not adhered to the instructions given by the Education department and has only admitted 11 out of the 25 students. Consequently, the Education department, with a team of officials, recently conducted an inspection at the school, during which neither the principal nor the management were present and they did not cooperate with the inspection, Rawat claimed.
The CEO also stated that due to the lack of cooperation from the school management and failure to enroll students under the RTE Act, the process of revoking the school’s affiliation has been initiated. In light of this, a report is being prepared which will soon be submitted to the Education secretary. He further stated that action will be taken against any school found guilty of non-enrollment of students under the RTE Act in the future. Strict action will be taken as per the rules against such institutions, he added.
