Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that new methods and strategies should be adopted by the departments to increase revenue collection. He said that along with further improvement in the tax collection process, strict measures should be taken to prevent tax evasion. The CM gave these directives to the officers in a meeting on financial austerity at the State secretariat on Wednesday.
He said that sound financial management is the basic mantra of the State government and efforts should be made to create and increase our own revenue resources.
The CM said that the revenue collection in the mining sector has increased by 70 per cent in the first half as compared to last year. He said that more efforts to increase revenue in sectors like SGST, transport, excise, forestry and energy should be made. The CM said that a better law and order situation gives impetus to economic activity and attracts investment.
Dhami directed the officials to ensure that the impact of the new policies of the State government is clearly visible on the economy of Uttarakhand. He said that for successful implementation of the policies, work should be done with a holistic approach. He said that austerity does not mean that we compromise on the concept of the welfare State.
The officers told the CM that the GSDP of the State has increased by 1.3 times in the last 20 months and the per capita income of the state has increased by 26 per cent in two years.
Finance minister Premchand Agarwal, chief secretary Radha Raturi, additional chief secretary Anand Bardhan and senior officers of State administration attended the meeting.
