In latest news from Uttarakhand, in a novel move to motivate the electors to turn out to vote, Uttarkashi district adventure tourism department organised a special rafting event from Tiloth bridge to Joshiyara barrage under the Election Commission’s Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme. Lunched by the district chief development officer Jai Kishan, voters present on the occasion were administered the voting oath while the department of disaster management (DDMA) conducted photography and videography of the event through drone cameras.
In his address, CDO said that such innovative programmes driven by social responsibility would be hosted to push up the voter turnout in the upcoming Lok Sabha election slated on April 19. The district adventure tourism officer, Mohammad Ali said that such innovative efforts not just increase public participation in the electoral process but also strengthen democracy.
