In latest news from Doon, the opposition Congress received a jolt in the run-up to the general election as the president of the Pachwadoon local Congress committee Laxmi Agarwal along with her husband who is the in-charge of the State Congress media cell P K Agarwal joined the ruling BJP in the presence of the State BJP chief Mahendra Bhatt who welcomed them with party membership. Along with the couple, a large number of their supporters also joined the saffron party. Quizzed why she had joined the BJP, Laxmi said that the Ram mandir consecration had inspired her switch from Congress to BJP.
