Install digital display boards for traffic management during Char Dham Yatra: Bardhan

Chief secretary Anand Bardhan has said that a system of digital display boards should be installed along the Char Dham Yatra routes and use of bulk SMS and WhatsApp messages should be made for better traffic management during the Yatra. 

The CS took stock of the preparations of the upcoming Yatra at the State secretariat on Saturday. In the meeting he directed the officers concerned to complete all the arrangements on time.  The CS took feedback from the secretaries Yugal Kishore Pant, R Rajesh Kumar, BVRC Purushottam and Niraj Khairwal about the preparations at Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri respectively.

 The CS directed the district magistrates to work on the suggestion given by the secretaries. He directed the UPCL to remove the problem of low voltage in the Dhams.

Bardhan said that the hospital in Kedarnath should be made operational before the start of the Yatra. Stressing on the importance of health screening of the pilgrims, the CS said that the number of health screening centres should be increased at Haridwar, Rishikesh and Vikasnagar.

He said that more parking spots should be identified and arrangements of food testing and health check-ups should be made near the parking places.  The CS said that traffic management schemes at the local level should be prepared.

 He said that places for developing Smriti Vans for planting trees by the pilgrims should be earmarked on Yatra routes. The CS directed that treatment of prospective landslide zones should be done. 

He said that special focus should be done on sanitation during the Yatra and said that money from the Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board and tied fund of 15th Finance Commission can be used for sanitation in the Yatra.

 Garhwal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, director general information Banshidhar Tiwari and other officers attended the meeting. The DMs of the Char Dham Yatra route attended the meeting in online mode.
