Integrated approach needed to combat diseases: CM

Says different forms of treatment should complement each other to provide better health care.

Inaugurates Kailash- Omega cancer centre at Kailash hospital Dehradun

The chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has said that different forms of treatment should complement one another to provide better healthcare facilities to the public. He was speaking after inaugurating the Kailash- Omega cancer centre at Kailash hospital here on Saturday. He said that the centre would fulfil a big requirement in the field of cancer treatment in the state. He opined that in view of the increasing nature of diseases, an integrated approach is needed to control them. Rawat said that the state government has taken many measures to provide better health care facilities in the mountainous areas. He said that a total of 2200 doctors have been appointed in the state health services and efforts are being made to strengthen healthcare infrastructure. He said that there were 216 ICU beds and 116 ventilators in the state 10 months ago and now there are 863 ICU beds and 695 ventilators in the state.  Rawat said that the state needs good and experienced physiotherapists. Lauding the efforts of Chairman of the Kailash hospital Dr Mahesh Sharma in developing health facilities in the state, he said that Sharma had played a key role in setting up the fifth science city of the country in Dehradun when he was union minister.

Speaking on the occasion, the senior cabinet minister Madan Kaushik said that the Kailash hospital had provided better health care facilities during the pandemic of Covid-19. He said that the pandemic has taught many lessons to us and has given an opportunity to strengthen the health infrastructure.

The Chairman of the Kailash hospital, Dr Mahesh Sharma said that the hospital would help in providing quality treatment in the field of heart diseases and cancer to the people of the state. The Mayor of Dehradun Municipal Corporation (DMC) Sunil Unyal ‘Gamma’ and Dr P Sridhar of Omega hospital also expressed their views on the occasion. The director of Kailash hospital Pawan Sharma and others were present on the occasion.
