Integration of digital resources, technology & institutes needed: governor

The governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh has suggested integration of the National Hydrographic Office, Survey of India and National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) for the benefit of the country. He gave the suggestion while interacting with the senior officers of the three departments at Raj Bhawan here on Thursday.
The governor appreciated the officers for organising the ongoing 42nd International conference of Indian National Cartographic Association (INCA) in Dehradun. In the meeting the officers gave a presentation on the way towards a blue economy with the help of digital cartography. The governor opined that integration of the National Hydrographic Office, Survey of India and NRSC would further enrich and integrate the three technologies (hydrography, cartography and remote sensing) for the study of marine ecosystems, its security, planning, economy, mapping and infrastructure. Giving the example of the Gati Shakti scheme of the government of India in this context the governor said integration of 16 ministries have been done for the purpose. He said that integration of digital resources, technology and the institutes is a need of the hour.
He emphasised that every Indian should get acquainted with the marine conditions and should know about its resources. Terming Uttarakhand as a hydro blessed State, the governor said that the State has ample scope for identifying the opportunities. He said that the current decade of this century belongs to Uttarakhand.
The joint chief hydrographer vice admiral Adhir Arora, rear admiral L S Pathania, commodore Piyush Pavse, commodore Prakash Chauhan, Sunil Kumar from NRSC and captain Kuldeep Singh were present in the meeting.
