Inter-department coordination must for disaster mitigation during monsoon: Rohilla

The deputy chairman of the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) Vinay Rohilla has said that inter-departmental coordination is important for dealing with monsoon triggered disasters in the State. He said that the State government has taken a target to ensure that minimum loss of life and property occurs in disasters and to achieve this all the linear departments should work in coordination. Rohilla chaired a meeting of officers of USDMA and nodal officers of different departments on Saturday.
The State emergency control room of USDMA has shifted to the newly constructed building of the authority at IT Park. Rohilla said that the most important aspect of disaster management is the speed at which rescue and relief operations are carried out.
He said that the new building of the USDMA conforms to the world class standards and use of the latest technology has been done in it.
Rohilla added that Uttarakhand is a very sensitive State in view of disaster and the monsoon is about to arrive. He claimed that the control room being operated from the new building will prove to be a milestone for disaster mitigation and relief and rescue works. The control room will work 24×7 and contribute to fulfilling the target disaster free Uttarakhand. He said that the CM Pushkar Singh Dhami will soon inaugurate the new building of the USDMA.
In his visit to the new building Rohilla took stock of the preparations of the inaugural ceremony.
The additional chief executive officer (administration) Anand Swarup, ACEO (operations) Raj Kumar Negi, joint CEO Mohammad Obbedulla Ansari, joint secretary PK Joshi, executive director Piyoosh Rautella and others attended the meeting.
