Investigation demanded into Badri-Kedar shrine digital donations

The mystery of receiving digital donations in Badri-Kedar Dham is deepening. Significantly, the chairman of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) claims that Paytm has installed QR codes in the premises of the two dhams without taking his permission. The chief executive officer of the committee says that the committee had an agreement with Paytm five years ago, but Paytm did not take permission at the competent level to install the QR code. It is also coming to light that the bank account linked to the QR code belongs to an employee of the committee. However, the office bearers of the committee are shying away from the matter.  They are demanding a proper inquiry.

Notably, Paytm’s QR codes for digital donations were found installed in the main premises of Badrinath and Kedarnath shrines on the day their portals reopened. But they were removed by the temple committee on the same day. The matter came into limelight after it was circulated on the internet media.

BKTC president Ajendra Ajay said that the committee had not installed such QR codes anywhere. Complaints were filed with the police in both the shrines to investigate the matter. A case has been registered at Badrinath outpost while the complaint filed at Kedarnath outpost is still being investigated.
